Japan Seeks Trilateral Summit with S. Korea, China in December

Japan is reportedly trying to arrange a trilateral summit with South Korea and China in Tokyo this December.

Japanese daily the Asahi Shimbun reported on Wednesday that Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono told an Internet media on Tuesday that Japan is trying to schedule the meeting.

The trilateral summit has not been held for about two years since November 2015 in Seoul due to the ouster of former President Park Geu-hye and diplomatic rows between Seoul and Beijing over the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.

Asahi said if the Tokyo summit is held, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang would visit Japan for the first time since they took office.
