US State Department Affirms 4 No's on N. Korea

The U.S. State Department says it will not seek the collapse of North Korea, a regime change, accelerated reunification of the Korean Peninsula nor an excuse to bring U.S. troops north of the 38th Parallel.

Spokeswoman Heather Nauert affirmed the principle of the "four no's" regarding North Korea during a media briefing on Thursday.

She said President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson have been very clear about where the U.S. stands on the issue of North Korea. She said that in terms of dialogue, the president and secretary have been very clear that now is not the time for talks.

Nauert said that at some point, if North Korea is showing that it is serious in its interest to denuclearize, the U.S. would consider talks. But she said the North is still not showing any sign of seriousness on that matter.
