S. Korea, China Agree to Normalize Cooperation, Exchanges

President Moon Jae-in says he is confident that South Korea and China can substantially develop a bilateral strategic cooperative partnership if they pool wisdom.
Moon made the remark during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Manila on Monday on the sidelines of regional gatherings.
Moon said he feels the Seoul-Beijing relationship is making a new start toward a new era. He also expressed hope that both countries will make efforts to promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy and culture, so that the people of the two countries can feel a genuine spring has come in bilateral relations.
During the 52-minute talks, the Chinese premier noted progress both countries have made in resolving sensitive issues step by step in the past, and thanked Moon for his efforts in the process. Li also expressed hope that both countries will normalize relations as early as possible.
It was Moon’s first meeting with the Chinese premier since he took office. It came two days after his second summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) summit held in Da Nang, Vietnam, where the two top leaders expressed strong hope to develop bilateral relations.
