Russia Conducts Naval Live-Fire Drill near N. Korea Borders

Russia is conducting a live-fire drill in its Far East region close to North Korea involving around one-thousand military personnel.

Russia’s Pacific Ocean Fleet says the drill is being conducted in three areas using about 200 different types of military equipment, including armored personnel carriers.

According to Newsweek magazine, around one-thousand infantry from the Russian Navy have been charged with mastering land warfare vehicles in far-eastern  provinces close to the border with North Korea.

It said one of the drill venues is located just 113 kilometers from the border.

Newsweek also quoted the Kremlin’s top security adviser as saying that Russia is preparing to defend its border in case a conflict arises involving North Korea following the regime’s test-launch of an ICBM last week.
