China Conducts Military Drills in Response to Vigilant ACE

China has reportedly conducted military drills in response to the massive Vigilant ACE joint air drills the U.S. and South Korea kicked off on Monday.
The Hong Kong-based Oriental Daily said on Friday that the Chinese military staged live-fire exercises for four days in the East China Sea, adding that the China Maritime Safety Administration banned vessel traffic in the region from six a.m. Wednesday to six p.m. Saturday.
Troops of China's 79th Group Army, which is part of the Northern Theater Command based in Liaoning Province, reportedly conducted live-fire artillery drills.
The Chinese Air Force said that the joint drills with the Army mobilized fighter jets, long-range radar detectors and strategic troops.
Quoting a document posted on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the report also reported that Changbai County in Jilin Province—located just across the border with North Korea— plans to set up five shelters for North Korean refugees to prepare for a possible war on the Korean Peninsula.
