
South Korea's top nuclear envoy says that Seoul will closely coordinate with the United States on issues related to the Korean Peninsula, including the North's nuclear weapons program.
Lee Do-hoon, special representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs, arrived in Washington on Wednesday to meet with U.S. officials and share the results of this week's high-level inter-Korean talks.
Lee said that during his three-day trip, he will meet with officials from the U.S. State Department and the White House to analyze Tuesday's inter-Korean talks and discuss bilateral cooperation between Seoul and Washington.
The nuclear envoy said that he plans to have various discussions in the U.S. regarding Korean Peninsula issues as part of efforts to maintain watertight coordination between South Korea and the U.S.
During the U.S. trip, Lee will meet with Joseph Yun, U.S. special representative for North Korea policy, and Matthew Pottinger, senior director for Asian affairs at the White House National Security Council.
