White House: Trump Accepts Invitation from Kim Jong-un

The White House has confirmed the U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s invitation to meet.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement Thursday that the time and venue will be decided at a later date.

She added that the U.S. highly anticipates North Korea's denuclearization and said that until then the policy of maximum pressure and sanctions will remain in place.

She also said President Trump greatly appreciates the nice words of President Moon Jae-in and the South Korean delegation.

Meanwhile, Trump tweeted on Thursday that great progress has been made with regard to North Korea.

He tweeted that “Kim Jong-un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze.”

He also said that “no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time,” adding that great progress is being made “but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached.”

Trump ended the tweet saying “meeting being planned!”
