'N. Korean Worker Hiding in Russia at Risk of being Deported'

Russian media say that a North Korean worker who had been living in hiding in Saint Petersburg for almost 20 years is at risk of being repatriated after being caught by police.
Fontanka, an online newspaper, reported Saturday that Choi Myung-bok was recently caught by police and a court ruled for his deportation.
Choi was dispatched by the North to work in the Russian Far East, but escaped from his workplace in 1999 and has been hiding from authorities in Saint Petersburg since.
The court's ruling on his deportation is scheduled to be executed on Friday.
A lawyer for the Russian human rights organization Memorial said the group is pursuing an appeal and that it asked the European Court of Human Rights in France to protect Choi, who is in custody at a center for illegal immigrants.
Russia and North Korea signed an agreement on the repatriation of illegal immigrants in February 2015.
