N. Korea, Russia Sign Treaty on Transfer of Sentenced Persons

North Korea and Russia have signed an agreement dubbed "a treaty on transferring persons who have been sentenced to the punishment of deprivation of liberty."

The North's official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Wednesday that the two nations signed the treaty on Tuesday in Moscow.

The deal appears to refer to a treaty on the transfer of sentenced persons which will enable North Korea to request the extradition of North Korean nationals convicted in Russia and vice versa.

Russian President Vladmir Putin instructed the signing of the treaty in November last year.

Back in November 2015, Russia and North Korea signed a treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and an extradition treaty.
