The U.S. special envoy on North Korean human rights said the international community should work together to resolve the North’s violations of human rights.
Robert King said during a debate organized by the American Society of International Law on Tuesday that there is no special remedy in resolving North Korea’s crimes against human rights .
He added the North’s human rights violations cannot be addressed by just referring the North to the International Criminal Court or by having China persuade Pyongyang to resolve the issue.
He said the North Korean government is sensitively responding to how the international community handles the crimes against human rights. King said other human rights organizations should assist the United Nations in pressuring the North to address the issue. (2014.04.23.08:25:35)
