The main opposition party has criticized President Park Geun-hye for not mentioning the pending special Sewol act despite her urging for a swift passage of economy-related bills.

The New Politics Alliance for Democracy (NPAD) on Monday raised issues with the president's failure to mention the disputed bill during a meeting with her aides Monday.

NPAD spokesman Yoo Ki-hong called the president "dispassionate" and "heartless", for not discussing the bill.

He stressed families of the Sewol victims are holding a three day sit-in near the presidential office, calling for a meeting with the president. The spokesman urged the president to immediately accept the demand for a meeting.
