S. Korea Holds Ceremony to Mark 50th Anniv. of Vietnam War

South Korea held a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the country's participation in the Vietnam War Thursday afternoon with 20-thousand Vietnam War veterans in attendance.

During the ceremony, Woo Yong-rak, head of the Korean Vietnam War Veterans Association stressed that society needs to care for and support the war veterans, adding many soldiers are still living in pain because of injuries and aftereffects from defoliants.

Through a video message, President Park Geun-hye said that the country could strengthen its basis of peace and prosperity today thanks to the war veteran's patriotism and sacrifice.

The vice president of the Vietnam War Veterans Association who also attended the event, said the South Korean and Vietnamese people should make efforts for mutual happiness and prosperity in the future.
