Park to Meet Delegation of Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union Friday

President Park Geun-hye will grant an audience to a delegation of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union at the presidential office on Friday.

The delegation is visiting South Korea to attend a general meeting of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ Union.

Park will be accompanied by Saenuri Party lawmaker Suh Chung-won, head of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ Union, and New Politics Alliance for Democracy lawmaker Kang Chang-il, who is another senior member of the union.

The head of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union, Fukushiro Nukaga, is set to convey a message to Park from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that he hopes for improved South Korea-Japan relations.

According to Japanese media, Abe had asked Nukaga earlier on Wednesday to deliver the message to Park.

The president, on her part, is expected to repeat the calls on Japan to take sincere steps toward addressing its wartime sex slavery issue amid controversial remarks made by some Japanese politicians denying that Japan forcibly drafted women into sexual enslavement.
