Foreign ministers from South Korea and 14 Pacific islands will meet in Seoul on Monday.

As the second meeting of its kind to be held, the event will be chaired by South Korea’s Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se. It will be attended by foreign ministers from 14 Pacific islands, including Papa New Guinea, Fiji, Kiribati and the Marshall Islands, as well as the acting secretary-general of the Pacific Islands Forum.

Participants will discuss ways to promote cooperation in three areas, including development, climate change and ocean and marine products.

The government is seeking to provide climate forecast services to the Pacific islands together with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Climate Center in Busan by expanding cooperation funds between South Korea and the Pacific Islands Forum.

The visiting foreign ministers will take part in a "talk concert" with South Korean college students after the meeting and will meet with President Park Geun-hye on Tuesday.
