US Special Rep. for N. Korea Sung Kim Arrives in S. Korea

U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Sung Kim arrived in South Korea on Thursday for a five-day visit.

During his stay in Seoul, the U.S. chief nuclear envoy will meet with senior South Korean officials, including Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Hwang Joon-kook, to discuss North Korea policy.

Kim's visit marks the first time Washington's top nuclear envoy has returned to South Korea since the former U.S. ambassador to Korea vacated the post in October.

On December 8, Kim will travel to Japan and meet with Director General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Junichi Ihara and other Japanese government officials.

After wrapping up his schedule in Japan, Kim will visit Beijing next Wednesday to meet with Chinese officials, including Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Wu Dawei.
