Park Urges New Assembly to Work for Livelihood

President Park Geun-hye has congratulated the beginning of the 20th National Assembly during her current trip to Africa, expressing hope that the new parliament will devote itself to improving people's livelihoods.

In a message sent to the National Assembly on Monday, Park noted significant internal and external challenges faced by South Korea, such as the economic crisis and growing anxiety over security.

The president said she hopes the 20th National Assembly will be remembered as a parliament which serves the public and works for the country.

The four-year term of the 20th National Assembly began on Monday.
