S. Korea to Move up Weapons System Plan to Counter N. Korea's Threats

The government has decided to move up pursuing a plan to secure a weapons system for national defense to respond to North Korean provocations.'
The ruling Saenuri Party’s chief policy-maker Kim Gwang-lim told reporters at the National Assembly on Wednesday that the decision came during a meeting among officials of the government and the presidential office as well as party lawmakers.
Participants agreed at the meeting to expand the relevant budget at this year’s regular session if it is deemed necessary to secure a national defense weapons system against the North's submarine-launched ballistic missiles(SLBM).
Kim added that the government will make active efforts for the adoption of a new UN Security Council resolution denouncing the North’s nuclear test while seeking independent sanctions against Pyongyang.
