The United States has named a South Korea-born US ambassador to take on a senior post dealing with North Korea.
US Ambassador to Malaysia Joseph Yun will replace Sung Kim as US Special Representative for North Korea Policy.
He'll also serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Korea and Japan.
A significant part of his brief will be to serve as Washington's chief envoy on the issue of North Korea's nuclear weapons programs.
Yun built his diplomatic career in South Korea, Thailand, France, Indonesia and Hong Kong, gaining a reputation as an expert on Asia.
He will reportedly meet his South Korean counterpart Kim Hong-kyun when foreign ministers and defense ministers of Seoul and Washington hold talks on Wednesday.
