'Records Exist on Memoir Account of Abstention'

Former Foreign Minister Song Min-soon has again affirmed the veracity of his memoir over the Roh Moo-hyun administration's handling of inter-Korean affairs.

He told reporters on Wednesday that he has records to prove his account of South Korea's 2007 abstention of a UN vote on a North Korean human rights resolution, which is stated in his memoir as resulting after first checking with Pyongyang.
His remarks come amid claims that there might be no minutes of top-level meetings, which Song claimed had been held to discuss the matter.
In his recently published memoir, the former foreign minister said that after a security policy coordination meeting produced no conclusion on November 15th, top officials of the former government had inquired Pyongyang’s position before deciding to abstain from the UN vote on the 20th.
