The U.S. government has launched anti-dumping investigations into South Korean steel products.
The U.S. Commerce Department said that the probe will focus on carbon and alloy steel wire rod products shipped from ten countries including South Korea, Russia, Spain and the U.K.

Italy and Turkey will be also subject to countervailing duty investigations by the department.
It is the first time any South Korean exports have come under anti-dumping inspections since the inauguration of the Trump administration in January, although the U.S. imposed anti-dumping duties on several South Korean products this year based on investigations carried over from the Obama administration.
U.S. steel manufacturers have demanded the U.S. government impose 33-point-96 percent to 43-point-25 percent anti-dumping duties on the South Korean steel products.

South Korea’s exports of carbon and alloy steel wire rod to the U.S. amounted to 116-thousand-901 metric tons in 2015, worth 59-point-06 million dollars, and 92-thousand-504 metric tons last year, worth 45-point-six million dollars.
The U.S. International Trade Commission is expected to make a provisionary conclusion of the inspection. The final conclusion is expected to come out early next year.
