Hwang Calls for Tight Vigilance Against N. Korean Provocations

Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn has ordered the military and the government to stay vigilant against possible provocations from North Korea.
Hwang told a meeting of security and economy-related ministers Thursday that despite the failed missile launch on Sunday, the North is predicted to carry out more provocations at any time including the April 25th founding anniversary of the North's Korean People's Army.
The acting president explained that U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s recent visit to South Korea has reaffirmed the solid alliance between South Korea and the U.S.
Hwang said that the South Korean economy has been recovering despite difficulties at home and abroad, such as threats from the North, trade issues and growing household debts. He noted that the Bank of Korea and the International Monetary Fund recently raised their economic growth outlooks for South Korea, citing increases in exports and facilities investment.
