Ex-UN Chief Congratulates Moon on Election Victory

Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has congratulated President Moon Jae-in on his election victory in a phone call.
A presidential official said on Thursday that Ban called the president around 9:40 a.m. from the U.S.
In the five-minute phone call, the former UN chief promised to do his best to help Moon if necessary, saying that the president is doing very well. The president responded by thanking Ban for his support.
The former UN chief left for the U.S. on April eighth, following his announcement to drop out of the presidential race, which came 20 days after he returned to South Korea in January. He was regarded as a promising candidate representing the conservative factions but abruptly gave up his presidential bid in early February.
