US B-1B Bombers Hold Firing Drill with S. Korean Fighters

United States B-1B Lancer bombers flew over the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday night in a joint exercise with South Korean fighter jets.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on Wednesday that two B-1B Lancer bombers from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam staged a simulated air-to-ground missile firing drill with two F-15K fighters over the East Sea.

The JCS said the Lancers, escorted by the Korean fighter jets, flew to the country's western waters where they held the firing drill.

It's the first deployment of the strategic bombers to the Korean Peninsula since September 23rd, when they flew in international airspace off North Korea's eastern coast.

On Tuesday, the U.S. flew its B-1B Lancers at night, which is seen as a move to enhance its military pressure on North Korea.
