'Moon Consented to US Deploying B-1B Bombers'

President Moon Jae-in was reportedly aware the U.S. would be flying heavy bombers over the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday.

Moon is known to have told a group of lawmakers on Wednesday at the presidential office that he had to agree to U.S. pressure against North Korea even though it could lead to an increase in tensions. In a show of force, the U.S. flew two B-1B Lancers alongside South Korean F-15 fighter jets.

The president made the remarks when asked if Seoul consented to the deployment, stressing the need to use both sanctions and dialogue.

The president also reportedly expressed frustration at the trouble his government is having in finding a starting point to deal with the North Korean nuclear issue, amid a war of words between the leaders of the U.S. and North Korea.
