Pres. Office Responds to Ex-President's Criticism

The presidential office says that the government's reform efforts to eradicate deep-rooted corrupt practices are aimed at reforming an unfair structure in favor of those with privilege.

The remark on Sunday came in response to President Lee Myung-bak's criticism over ongoing probes into mounting allegations against the spy agency and military during his term.

In a test message to reporters, Presidential Spokesman Park Soo-hyun said President Moon Jae-in had commented in September that the probes were not targeting a certain individual, but aimed at changing the unfair structure favorable to the privileged.
The former president told reporters earlier Sunday that he has started to suspect the probes are probably the Moon government's political retaliation driven by old grudges.
