Pres. Moon to Meet with Chinese Premier Li

President Moon Jae-in will sit down for talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Manila on Monday on the sidelines of regional gatherings.
It will be Moon’s first meeting with the Chinese premier since he took office.
Efforts to restore Seoul-Beijing ties are expected to gain speed as Monday’s meeting comes on the heels of a summit between Moon and Chinese President Xi Jinping last Saturday.
Moon and Li are expected to discuss ways to boost cooperation in a bid to restore bilateral economic ties which have suffered serious strain due to China’s retaliatory steps against South Korea for deciding to install the THAAD antimissile system.
Observers believe that Moon and Li are likely to discuss ways to resuscitate bilateral exchanges in the areas of economy, society and culture, which could include removing China's travel restriction toward South Korea and of a ban on Hallyu, or the Korean wave phenomenon.
China launched such retaliatory steps shortly after Seoul unveiled its THAAD deployment plan in July of last year.
