Moon's Approval Rating Surges over 80%

A new poll shows President Moon Jae-in’s approval rating has surged past 80 percent.

The Korea Society Opinion Institute(KSOI) on Monday announced the result of its survey conducted between Friday and Saturday on slightly over one-thousand voters across the country.

Among those polled, 80-point-nine percent said Moon is doing a good job, up one-point-four percentage points from its survey last month.

Specifically, 36-point-two percent said he is doing a very good job, while 44-point-seven percent said he is doing a fairly good job.

The number of those saying he is doing a poor job dropped by three-point-seven percentage points to 15-point-eight percent.

Those expressing support for the president complimented him for his clear communication with the public and his empathy as well as efforts to clean up deep-rooted corruption.

Those negatively assessing him cited controversy over the appointment of Cabinet ministers and top aides as well as his policies on North Korea and national security.

The survey had a 95 percent confidence level with a margin of error of plus or minus three-point-one percentage points.
