Moon Says He Will Open Path to Peace like Icebreaker

President Moon Jae-in has vowed to open the path toward peace on the Korean Peninsula with the help of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Speaking at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering’s Okpo shipyard in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province Wednesday, Moon said the PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be a bugle heralding peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Making his first trip to an event out of the presidential office for the year, the president likened his strong will to bring peace to the region to an icebreaker being built at the shipyard.

Noting that he feels proud of the country’s prowess in shipbuilding, Moon expressed confidence that the local shipbuilding industry will be able to overcome its current crisis and leapfrog back to become a global leader.

He also emphasized the government’s will to boost the economy, saying that he will make sure the public will be able to feel the improvement of their lives in the New Year.
