Rival Parties Agree to Hold Extra Parliamentary Session from Jan. 30

South Korea's rival parties have agreed to hold an extraordinary parliamentary session from the end of this month.

The deputy floor leaders of the ruling Democratic Party, the largest opposition Liberty Korea Party and the minor opposition People’s Party agreed during a meeting Thursday to start a monthlong extra session on January 30th.

The session will begin with speeches by the leaders of the three major parties for three days beginning January 31st.

It then will be followed by speeches by the leaders of the smaller parties on February fifth and sixth.

An interpellation session, where lawmakers grill government ministers on various state affairs, will be held for three days beginning February fifth.
