Minister Orders Military Prosecutors to Probe DSC Interference in Elections

Defense Minister Song Young-moo says he has ordered military prosecutors to investigate allegations of the Defense Security Command's(DSC) interference in the 2012 presidential election, which KBS had earlier reported.

In a news conference at the ministry on Monday, the defense chief said that all allegations must be investigated regardless of the rank of the involved figures.

Since allegations emerged in September that the DSC engaged in activities to sway online public opinion, a Defense Ministry task force has been looking into online postings and searched computer servers at the command in order to verify the claims.

Earlier, KBS obtained six Twitter accounts managed by cyber agents at the Security Command and some 30-thousand online messages they produced.

Through analysis of the tweets, it was confirmed that the DSC systematically posted online writings critical or supportive of certain politicians and political parties around the time of general and presidential elections in 2012.
