Moon Embarks on Trip to India, Singapore

President Moon Jae-in has embarked on a six-day state visit to India and Singapore.

The president departed for India on Sunday on Air Force One at Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

The president is set to arrive in New Delhi on Sunday night and visit Akshardham, a Hindu temple.

On Monday, Moon will attend a ceremony to mark the completion of Samsung Electronics' new smartphone plant in India. The president will also deliver a keynote speech for the South Korea-India Business Forum.

On the third day of the state visit on Tuesday, Moon will hold summit talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attend a meeting with business leaders of South Korea and India.

Moon is scheduled to meet with Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and attend a state banquet on Tuesday evening.

He will then head to Singapore for a three-day state visit at the invitation of President Halimah Yacob.

Moon will hold summits with Singaporean President Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Thursday before attending a ceremony in which the two sides will sign memoranda of understanding. The president will then give a keynote speech for the South Korea-Singapore business forum and attend a state banquet.

On the last day of his state visit on Friday, Moon will deliver a speech on the state of affairs on the Korean Peninsula and his New Southern Policy aimed at boosting ties with Southeast Asian nations.

Moon will return home late Friday.
