Campaigning Starts for April By-elections
2009-04-16 17:43:52
Official campaigning for the April 29th by-elections kicked off Thursday morning.

Leaders from ruling and opposition parties have rolled up their sleeves in efforts to secure votes.

Park Hee-tae from the ruling Grand National Party visited districts in Ulsan and Gyeongju of North Gyeongsang Province to ask for local support for party candidates Park Dae-dong and Jeong Jong-bok.

Main opposition Democratic Party Chairman Chung Se-kyun first visited Incheon to stump for his party's candidate Hong Young-pyo. He later moved on to Jeonju to gather support for candidates Kim Geun-sik and Lee Gwang-chul.

The head of the Liberty Forward Party, Lee Hoe-chang, also stopped by Gyeongju this afternoon, canvassing the area to support the party's candidate, Lee Jae-kwan.
