The Seoul Metropolitan Government says it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Mongolian capital city Ulaanbaatar to expand cooperation and exchanges in the environment and economy sectors.

The two cities will cooperate in combating Mongolia’s desertification and other effects of global warming.

The agreement will enable Seoul-based companies to take part in Ulaanbaatar’s urban planning, development, industrial, trade and tourism projects.

The mayor of Ulaanbaatar asked Seoul to consider building a hospital in his country to bring the benefits of modern medicine to more Mongolians.

Meanwhile, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon urged the Ulaanbaatar mayor to resolve an issue concerning schools for the children of Korean expatriates.
