The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) floor leader has stressed the need for inter-Korean dialogue in the wake of North Korea's proposal for high-level talks with the United States.
DP Floor Leader Jun Byung-hun says that North Korea-U.S. talks and inter-Korean talks are not a matter of one or the other. He said they should come together but cross-border dialogue must come first.
In his party's Supreme Council meeting Monday, Jun strongly urged North Korea to sit down for talks with the South to show that it's sincere about dialogue.
The floor leader also called on the Seoul government to do its best to resume the foiled inter-Korean meeting, adding that machines at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in the North will get rusty with the arrival of the rainy season.
