The South Korean Embassy in Laos has gained custody of six North Korean children who escaped from their homeland and were arrested in the Southeast Asian country.
The head of Dream Makers for North Korea, Park Sun-young, told KBS on Wednesday that the six children, all six and seven years old, and their guide, were arrested by Laos immigration authorities near the Laos border ten days ago.
Park, a lawmaker turned activist, told KBS that South Korea’s diplomats stationed in Laos received the children Tuesday night from the immigration authorities.
Dream Makers for North Korea is a private foundation based in Seoul for South Korean prisoners of the Korean War and North Korean escapees.
