Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn says that the government will focus on providing better education and care to children with disabilities and support them to grow into full-fledged members of society.
He made the remarks at a ceremony marking the 37th Day of Persons with Disabilities on Thursday.
The acting president said the government has been trying to improve the quality of life and rights of people with disabilities, pointing to efforts to provide good medical, educational and housing services and job opportunities for them.
Hwang explained that the government budget for giving financial aid to the disabled has increased 58 percent over the past four years. He also said the government has tried to provide greater support to people with severe disabilities who need caregivers around the clock.
