Gov't Holds First Vice Ministerial Meeting

The government held its first vice ministerial meeting on Thursday since President Moon Jae-in took office and discussed North Korea's missile launch as well as implementation of the president's campaign pledges.

The meeting chaired by Hong Nam-ki, chief of the Government Policy Coordination Office, also deliberated and approved 35 agenda items to be referred to next week's Cabinet meeting.

Hong asked for each ministry's utmost effort to thoroughly carry out policy measures and help the new administration swiftly take root as the composition of the Cabinet and presidential office has yet to be completed.

Hong also asked for support in the drafting of a five-year master plan on state governance as the State Policy Planning and Advisory Committee kicks off its operation next week. The committee is viewed as serving a similar role as a presidential transition team.
