Moon to Attend ASEAN Plus 3, East Asia Summit

President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday will attend a series of regional meetings with the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) and other countries.

Moon, who arrived in the Philippines on Sunday for a four-day visit, will attend the ASEAN Plus Three summit, involving the leaders of ASEAN, South Korea, Japan and China.

The leaders will review the ASEAN cooperation and discuss the future direction of the cooperation at the 20th anniversary summit of the ASEAN Three Plus.

The leaders are expected to issue the Manila Declaration at the end of the summit.

President Moon will then attend the 18-nation East Asia Summit on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the North Korean issue and other regional issues.

The summit will be followed by talks on an envisioned regional free trade pact, known as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP).

The president is set to hold summit talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Tuesday morning to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation.

Moon will host a dinner for South Korean residents and business people in the Philippines to wrap up his trip.

He is set to return home on Wednesday, ending his eight-day Southeast Asia trip that took him to Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
