Moon Promises Gov't's Continuous Support for Incheon Airport

President Moon Jae-in has called for Incheon International Airport to develop from a regional to a global hub and promised continued government support for South Korea's main gateway.

Moon made the remarks Friday while attending the opening ceremony of the second terminal built for the quickly growing airport in Incheon, west of Seoul.

He said an airport is a gauge of the nation's power and openness to the world, and that the new terminal marks the completion of Incheon airport's preparation for another leap.

The president urged the airport not to be complacent and continuously equip itself with an ability to accommodate 20 million foreign tourists every year and become a more efficient global distribution hub for local exporters.

Moon said the government will also actively help the airport expand further so that it will be able to handle up to 100 million people every year by 2023.
