N. Korea Suspected in WannaCry Attacks

Cyber security experts say North Korea may be behind the global WannaCry ransomware cyberattacks.
According to the AFP news agency and IT news Web site Ars Technica, Google security researcher Neel Mehta said there are similarities between the WannaCry attacks and North Korea-run hacking operations.
Mehta said it appears the hacking group Lazarus, which is believed to have a connection with the North, is behind the latest malware attacks. He noted that some codes in a February sample of the WannaCry software had been found in earlier programs used by the Lazarus Group.
Russian cyber security company Kaspersky Lab is also taking note of North Korea’s possible link to the WannaCry attacks, calling Mehta’s discovery a crucial clue.
