Bioterrorism Field Headquarters to be Set up at U-20 World Cup Venues

South Korean health authorities plan to set up bioterrorism field headquarters at major venues of the FIFA U-20 World Cup set to open on Saturday across the nation.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(KCDC) said Tuesday it will station  mobile field command headquarters and laboratory vehicles at stadiums in Jeonju and Suwon, where opening and closing ceremonies will be held.

The mobile lab will permit health officials to test for high-risk pathogens such as anthrax, plague and Brucella within two to three hours.

Citizens and visitors are encouraged to report suspected cases of bioterrorism to the hotline 043-719-7878 or 1339.

About six thousand soccer players and journalists from 24 countries will participate in the Under-20 World Cup, taking place over 23 days from May 20th in Jeonju, Suwon, Cheonan, Seogwipo, Incheon and Daejeon.
