IOC to Decide Russia's Olympic Participation on Dec. 5

The International Olympic Committee said Friday that its executive board will decide on December fifth whether to allow Russia's participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
IOC President Thomas Bach is expected to announce the decision in a news conference that day at 7:30 p.m. local time in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) earlier decided not to reinstate the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), and said a decision on Russia's participation in the PyeongChang games belongs to the IOC.
WADA had declared Russia's anti-doping body "non-compliant" in November 2015 following its investigation into state-sponsored doping allegations in Russia.
It's likely that Russian athletes who received additional doping tests will be allowed to compete in the winter games.
Last year just before the Rio Olympics, Canadian law professor Richard McLaren released a report showing that over a thousand Russian athletes were involved in a large-scale systematic doping program between 2011 and 2015, shocking the sports community.
Following investigations, some Russian athletes were permanently barred from competing internationally.
