The name T-Max comes from the first letter of triple and trinity, the words that mean perfect balance and harmony, and “maximize,” which implies that they will maximize their talents and abilities. Originally a trio, the group was composed of Shin Min-cheol, noted for his exception songwriting talent, Kim Jun, who played Song Woo-bin in the KBS drama, “Boys Over Flower,” and Park Yun-hwa, a talented musician in his own right. Their music contains pieces that best represent the versatility of these three musicians, covering a wide range of genres from trendy pop to funky rock dance. The title song “I Love You” from their first album was also featured in the teaser video for the film “Pitiable City” due out in early 2009. Their song "Paradise" which was used as the theme song for the popular "Boys Over Flowers" drama really put them in the spotlight.
After first debuting in 2007 together with the single "Blooming", youngest member Park Yoon-hwa announced his departure from the group in April of 2010 due to his mandatory military duty. He left the group earlier than his actual call to duty due to some personal things he said he had to tend to. To remaining members decided to ass an additional member which is how Joo Chan-yang came to be a part of T-Max.
