[ABU Special] Geena Davis on Gender Inequality in Media
2012-10-12
On this week’s Seoul Report, we meet Geena Davis, an Academy Award winner who starred in such films as “Thelma and Louise”, “a League of their own”, and popular TV series “Commander in Chief.
As the International Telecommunication Union’s special envoy, Davis visited South Korea and delivered a speech at a forum, “Women with the Wave” of The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union’s General Assembly.
On the day that coincided with the United Nation’s International Day of the Girl Children (Oct. 11), the long-time advocate of women and girls spoke about her works aimed at diversifying media portrayals of women for children, and combat gender stereotyping.
