Koreans have always prayed to the gods to bring them good fortune. The concept of ‘bok,’ translating into blessing or good fortune, is manifested in various aspects of Korean life. It’s very commonplace to find ‘bok’ in the names of many people and locations as well as to see sculptures and architecture representing ‘bok.’
In Korea, a new year starts with people wishing each other plenty of luck and good fortune.
