Global stars, BTS, has become the first Korean act to be nominated for the annual American Music Awards (AMAs).

The group has been nominated for the Favorite Social Artist category in the AMAs and will be competing with four other singers, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Shawn Mendes.

The AMAs made the announcement on Sept. 12 (local time) saying it is the first time that BTS has been nominated for an award. The Favorite Social Artist award will be one in 30 awards given at the event.

BTS made their television debut in the U.S. through a performance at the awards last year. If BTS wins the award, it will become the third major U.S. music award that the group has won following the Billboard Social Artist Award in 2017 and 2018.
