Shim Sung-rak is an accordion virtuoso who has accompanied most of Korea’s popular music recordings.
He was the president’s musician, always present at official events organized by the presidential office and he also took part in numerous original soundtracks for films such as “My Mother, the Mermaid”, “One Fine Spring Day”, “The President’s Barber” etc. With the accordion, Shim has produced 7,000 songs that are listed by the Federation of Korean Music Performers as copyrighted and produced about 100 albums.
Shim is a living witness to the Korean music industry. When Shim's accordion was destroyed by fire four months ago, a public fundraiser helped pay for a new instrument in just two months.
This shows how Shim Sung-rak is not only admired by singers, but the general public as well. That is why he held a concert to thank those who supported him titled “The Song of the Wind that Blows Again” on July 30th.
