Gangneung is famous for being the birthplace of the most esteemed neo-Confucian scholar Yulgok Yi I and his mother and renowned artist Sin Saimdang. But the city has more to see and experience than the landmarks associated with those two notable figures. There is also the birth home of Heo Nanseolheon and Heo Gyun, the artistically gifted siblings of the Joseon Dynasty. Also, don't forget to taste the velvety and flavorful Chodang tofu supposedly made by the siblings' father Heo Yeob at Chodang Tofu Village.
