The special counsel team investigating the December 3 martial law declaration has raided the residence of former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, who is accused of inciting insurrection.

Legal sources said Monday that special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s team was executing a search warrant at Hwang’s home in Seoul on Monday morning.

The search is connected to a complaint a civic group filed against Hwang, alleging that he incited insurrection.

In March, ahead of the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, the civic group filed a complaint with the police, stating that the threats to the court by insurrectionist forces, incitement of riots and agitation had reached a serious level.
