Busan, Gyeongju to Host G20 Senior Officials' Meetings

The Korean cities of Busan and Gyeongju will host a G20 meeting of finance ministers in June and one of central bank governors in October ahead of the G20 summit in Seoul slated for November.

Approximately one-thousand delegates are estimated to attend these two meetings, including aides and news media.

In addition, meetings for the vice ministers of finance and vice chiefs of central banks will be held in September in Gwangju. The Sherpa meetings, for diplomats who lay the groundwork, are set for September in Seoul and October in Songdo.

The G20 Preparatory Committee headed by Sakong Il said the venues were selected upon expert advice and meetings by relevant government agencies. According to the committee, the size and nature of the meetings, accessibility to airports, meeting venues and accommodations were taken into account as well as the facilitation of provincial regions to host international meetings.
